Decatur’s 6th Annual BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival is presented by three non-profit groups: the Community Center of South Decatur, the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association and the Decatur Recreation Department. All proceeds of the festival will be invested directly into the Decatur community through various programs and initiatives by these three organizations. The festival location is a short walk from the East Lake MARTA station. Exit the south (College Ave.) side of the station and cross the parking lot to the southeast corner, the intersection of Park Place and East Lake Drive. Follow East Lake to the festival in Harmony Park. >> map

Enjoy author readings and signings, discussion panels, a writer's conference, booksellers in the Decatur Square, an antiquarian book dealers sale, a slam poetry competition, and a closing ceromony.

Every third Thursday of the month, Decatur's galleries keep their doors open until 9pm - inviting you to peruse their current exhibits while enjoying light refreshments. Decatur's 12 galleries offer a wide range of fine art. Stop by Boswell Gallery and check out the wire-figure sculptures, then head across the street to view the fine crafts at Creative Spirit Gallery. Anglophiles can get their fill with Vinson Gallery's collection of paintings and prints by contemporary British artists. And don't miss Decatur's latest gallery addition, Foundation-one Studios. This communications design firm disguises its offices with a gallery space at the front end of the building.

Oakhurst Art & Music Festival 2005

This annual event features an artists market with more than 75 artists, plus children's arts activities, literary arts, and musical performances throughout the day. Located in Harmony Park in the heart of the Oakhurst business district. On the square, 1-6 p.m. Features hundreds of the finest local and international beers available for tasting. Live music and food. Entry fee includes special tasting glass. $30. A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur
Program provides holiday gifts for Decatur's low-income children and senior citizens through the help of individuals, families, neighborhood associations, civic groups, places of worship, and businesses to see that they have a joyous holiday season.

Terrific Thursdays
Participating Decatur shops and restaurants stay open late and offer a variety of discounts, special holiday open houses, receptions, book signings, and more. Begins Nov. 2 with the By Hand South Holiday Open House. Park in one place and hop on the Fur Bus to travel between shopping areas. Free. Santa joins the fun every Thursday in December.

Join the Oakhurst community at 7 p.m. for the annual tree lighting ceremony in Harmony Park, at the intersection of Oakview Road and East Lake Drive.

Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Park and ride the Fur Bus to different neighborhoods to visit a variety of homes and points of interest.Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit Decatur Youth Fund and Decatur Preservation Alliance.
